/ʧ/ is an affricate consonant that starts by blocking the air in the alveoli and then continuing with a /ʃ/. The vocal cords do not vibrate when producing the /ʧ/. It's 'not voiced'. The most common writing patterns are 'ch', 'tch', 'tu' not stressed, 'ti' after 's', 'ce' and 'te' not stressed.
