/s/ it is an alveolar fricative consonant. The tip of the tongue approaches the alveoli partially obstructing the passage of air that comes from the lungs, appearing a hiss. The lips are not rounded. The vocal cords do not vibrate when producing /s/. It's 'not voiced'. The most common writing patterns are 's', 'ss', 'c' before 'i', 'e' and 'y', 'sc' before 'i' and 'e' and 'se' after consonant.
